Change is Good

Sunday we turned the clocks back to end Daylight Savings Time and in the process I think I turned my energy level backward too. Its 7pm and I feel like I should be getting ready for bed. Its dark outside and my body is telling me to get some sleep. Its going to take me awhile to get use to this again. Wasn’t it just July and the sun was out until 9pm?

woolflowersThis month I’m focusing on classes. I’m teaching 2 beginner sewing classes and later this month I’m teaching a fabric postcard class for my quilt guild. In the in-between time I’m trying to come up with new ideas for classes to teach next year. I like teaching beginner classes, but I’m interested in teaching some classes that are more like what I do with my art. I have lots of ideas and I’m pretty motivated to get things accomplished this month..if it wasn’t for that darn clock making me feel like its later than it is.

With the change of seasons, its a good time to reflect on what I’ve accomplished this year and how I expect to change things next year. I’m setting goals and milestones and deciding what is important to me.

I encourage you to do the same. Look at the changing seasons as a way to check in with yourself. Are things going the way you want? What needs to change to make you feel better about yourself and your situation? For me there’s always room to change and grow, so checking in frequently lets me assess how things are going. Did I veer off track? What needs to be tweaked to fine tune the momentum of my life? Listen to yourself and remember, you’ll always keep doing what you’re doing…if you continue doing what you’ve been doing. Change is good.
