Saturday is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year and the reminder that spring is just around the corner (almost). I have a friend who, starting on December 21, makes a daily post on Facebook counting backwards the number of days until spring. Like a kid waiting for Christmas, my high school pal anxiously waits the coming of spring.
This time of year is also a great time for reflection. Just like the news, I like to review the highlights of the year. Even though things didn’t always run smoothly, I can say I had a pretty great year. I’ve connected with some great people and opportunities. I’ve had to let go and say good-bye to a few things, but that’s all part of moving forward. Isn’t it?
So as the darkness continues to take seconds from your day, remember that come Sunday the daylight will begin it’s fight back…as it always does. Our days will become brighter. That’s how life goes. No matter how dark things seem, there’s always another day to start new. A new day, a new week, a new year. Its OK to look back, just keep moving forward when you do.
Here’s cheers that great things continue to entertain your life in the coming new year!
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” – Anne Bradstreet
