Here there everywhere, that’s how I feel about next week. Its pretty cool, but also its been keeping me busy the last couple weeks.
Today, I was talking to a friend who runs a framing studio. As part of the Palustris Festival, her shop is holding a small art show. Guess who’s hanging a piece in that show? Me! “Being Koi” will be on display next week at King’s Custom Framing in Pinehurst, NC.
And also part of Palustris Festival, the Sandhills Quilter’s Guild is displaying some quilts at the Owens Auditorium at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC. Their exhibit is entitled “Not Your Granny’s Quilt.” The owner of my quilt “Solitude” offered my quilt for display in this exhibit. Wow! Thanks Patsy! I can’t wait to see it hanging again.
And finally, I finished my piece for DoubleTakes at Eye Candy Gallery in Southern Pines, NC. I dropped it off on Tuesday, while I was there I got a sneak peak of some of the fantastic artwork that will be in this show. All I can say is WOW! I can’t wait to see all the completed work. Each artist is interpreting a photograph. I’m in love with 2 pieces that I’ve seen…I’m trying to figure out how can I afford to own them. I should be selling my work, not buying…but I love to own pieces of work made by people I know and love. It means a lot to have my friends work looking back at me as I walk around my home.
Oh? yeah? You probably want to see the finished piece “Fireline” that I’ve been talking about for the past several months. Oh well, sorry…not going to happen today. I’m only presenting this little photo that demonstrates a little how I got the smoky affect that I wanted. You’ll have to wait until my post next Wednesday, that’s when the exhibit actually opens to the public and I’ll will share the full view photo. And if I can get it, maybe I’ll be able to get a photo of me and Brady Beck (creator of my photo inspiration) together next to our work. So sorry…can you wait another couple days?
