What shall I call it?

Lately, my heart has been feeling heavy. There’s too much uncertainty and chaos in the world. Most of the worries are out of my control. I know I just have to be patient and watch it all play out.

So I step away from the news to find some peace. That’s what I’m trying to do anyway. My ever present comfort is the bird feeder in my backyard. I can see if from every window on the backside of my house.

I’ve been observing the summer birds arriving and hanging out again. They’ve been away for awhile. The red-headed woodpecker is back. And this morning, I saw a male and female pair of summer tanagers. The indigo bunting was here this week too. And, oh yes, the sweetness…this season’s first bluebird nestlings are almost fledged (ready to fly).

This is where to focus when you’re heart gets heavy. Stop, listen, and watch  the birds. Maybe even be inspired to make a new quilt. What shall I call it?

I’m right there with you. I’m watching hummingbirds at my feeders. Call it “For the Birds”!

Yay!! I haven’t put my hummer feeders up in a couple years. I love watching them, but because it is so hot here you have to change syrup and clean them every two days. Don’t have the time right now. But they do still fly around the yard and visit the flowers.

I’m always turning to nature for solace when the world at large is in such constant chaos – all the killing that goes on bears heavily on my soul. I too have feeders just outside my sewing room window, one is ‘squirrel proof’ haha, the other is not as I wish to feed the squirrels too! I save all my veggie trimmings for them too, I put them on a tray I’ve placed under a big tree every couple of days, they seem to enjoy the treat.

Thanks for sharing!! Nice! It is wonderful to take a quick break from time to time and watch the activity at the feeders. I don’t let the birds onto the feeders (baffles), but they are there picking up all the seeds the bird kicked out of the feeder. The squirrels also entertain the dogs with a game of chase.

Ah, watching the birds is therapy to me too. I especially enjoy watching them soar! I would call your quilt Renewed, because the birds take me away and renew me, reminding me of living a simple life. . Or Grounded. . . Giving us some grounding in our chaotic world. Hope you are well. I miss seeing you. I love your art❤️

Ah…yes, the ballet of a soaring bird. So graceful. “Renewed” and “Grounded” are good names. Thanks for sharing. And, miss seeing you too.

Maybe call it “Friendship is Knocking” ?

Nanette, I join you in the quiet beauty of watching the springtime birds arrive… This year we are in Wisconsin and it is exciting. I saw an indigo bunting several days in a row, a cardinal pair, and a rose breasted grosbeak. My favorite friend is a chipmunk who makes me giggle. There are two bunnies that always seem to know when fresh seed is on the ground. Like you, when I feel contemplative, down, curious, or sleepy 🙂 I always, return to watching nature.
    Your art is ALL beautiful!!!
    This piece is special.

I like “Friendship Knocking!” Thank you!
It is fun watching birds in different areas of the world. It’s magical. I’m seeing the summer visitors and missing the birds I see in the winter. I don’t want to change things, because that’s what makes it all so interesting. Something new almost every day. Enjoy…
